Kids Helping Kids Concert

COOS BAY — A March 12 concert by local youth bands will benefit homeless youth in the area.

Buzz Krill, the Metro Gnomes and Bach Rock will perform a Kids Helping Kids Benefit Concert 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Egyptian Theatre, 229 S. Broadway, Coos Bay.
In the 2014-2015 school year, there were 285 homeless students in just the Coos Bay school district. Of those, 42 percent of those were unaccompanied youth (by themselves with no family help).

For the 2016 school year, that number is already over 300 and rising. These numbers for homeless youth are just for the ones attending school. In Coos County there are over 1,400 homeless youth that are not attending school or working and this number is also growing.
Members of the participating bands range in age from 5 to 15 and have partnered with social service nonprofit Oregon Coast Community Action on this rocking event. Additional sponsors are Your Space Designs, Macduff Design, Bee Happy Children's Dentistry in Coquille, Pahl's Dentistry, Tower Ford and Bay Eye Clinic and Bay Optical Lab.
